Czech Oct. Jobless Rate Stays At 8.5%
(RTTNews) – The jobless rate in the Czech Republic was 8.5% in October, same as in the previous month, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said on Monday. Economists had expected the jobless rate to be 8.3%. A year earlier, the unemployment rate was 8.5%.

How are woman in Czech Republic treated now and back in the late 70′s into the 80′s etc..?

I was wondering if anyone knew how woman in the Czech Republic are treated. Are men there raised to respect woman, or is it pretty much they show them little regard? I am particularly interested in how woman were treated in the late 70′s thru the 80′s and into the 90′s

well the communists were promoting feminism in terms of public sphere, so there have been numbers of female workers, including the heavy industry. however most men in the 70ies still considered their wives to be sorta maids to them.
through the next two decades, the household workload has been usually better split between the two partners.

generally speaking, that era allowed females to reach unmatched opportunities without any positive discrimination laws (in terms of COMMUNIST state!), including rather free sexual life, and pre marital sexual experience.
like the other answerer wrote, everyone was expected to work, and in most families the income of wife was essential to keep the family budget in black numbers. that helped their stance a lot
