Why are now even some attractive guys trying to marry women from backward countries ?

I saw this video about the whole mail order bride industry in russia, ukraine, brazil, etc u know backward nations. I am a girl, but they showed seminars and such. They arrange like some big social gathering with 200 girls for 30 to 50 guys. And the girls I have to say most of them were like models like from VS or Maxim The men were the typical ugly disgusting geezers all gross.

‘…women from backward countries’

This question is another example of the dominant ethnocentricism of most Americans,
which brings them a common international reputation for ignorance and arrogance.
I have known many women from ‘backward countries’ who are much more intelligent
and educated (as well as much less racist and bigoted) than most American women.

In fact, many women in Russia, Ukraine, etc. are more intelligent and educated than
most American women. (These women also likely know more about the United States
than most Americans know about their societies.) Given the often harsh conditions
in their homelands, however, some of these women may become desperate enough
to seek almost any unmarried adult male US citizen as a husband in order to pursue
a new life in the United States.

Speaking of ‘backward countries’, I note with disdain that many, if not most, apparently
Western writers, both men and women, at Yahoo Answers like to assume attitudes of
superiority and condescension toward some, if perhaps not all, non-Western peoples.
In particular, I note that many writers in GWS insist on stereotyping all East Asian
women as extremely subservient and incapable of intelligent thinking on their own.
How many Western female students would believe that their self-evident superiority
would be corroborated by comparing their results on the same mathematical exams
with those of female students of the same ages in some East Asian societies?
Why would any ‘superior’ Western women be afraid, as many of them seem to be,
of competing against ‘inferior’ Asian women on the same school exams?

It’s true, however that females in many non-Western societies must struggle against
some barriers that no longer seem as insurmountable in some Western societies.

If Gandhi had been a Muslim ‘holy man’ who held such extremely narrow views
of a woman’s identity and her place in society, then he would be almost universally
condemned by Westerners. But, as a Hindu, Gandhi seems almost above criticism.

“What’s going on in our country?”

If most Americans were less arrogant, they might begin to realize that, in terms
of international educational standards, the United States is a ‘backward country’.
In comparative exams in mathematics and sciences, American students do worse on average than the students in many ‘backward countries’. Most Americans can speak only one language, while it’s common for people in many ‘backward countries’ to speak at least two languages. And many persons, who are not native speakers of English, from ‘backward countries’ have learned to read and write English better than most Americans. My non-American friends tend to have no worries that they are less educated than most Americans of a comparable age and class background.
